NASA SPACE APPS PROJECT ACCELERATOR ACTIVITIES BEGIN IN BANGLADESH

US Space Agency, NASA organizes world’s biggest hackathon NASA Space Apps Challenge every year. Thousands of space scientists, tech specialists and participants from different countries joined this competition.

An initiative titled “Space Apps Project Accelerator” has been undertaken to ensure the potential projects from the participants of Bangladesh don’t suffer from lack of guidance and support, a press release said Thursday.

Co-organizers of this activity in Bangladesh are Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS) and Space Apps Bangladesh.

A “Meet the Press” was organized at the BASIS Auditorium in Karwan Bazar on Thursday to brief about the activities under “Space Apps Project Accelerator” initiative.

Zunaid Ahmed Palak, MP; ICT State Minister was present as the Chief Guest on this occasion. BASIS President Mustafa Jabbar presided over the press conference.

Shameem Ahsan, Former President of BASIS and FBCCI Director was present as the Special Guest.

Also present were Russell T Ahmed, BASIS Senior Vice President and; Sabur Khan, Academic Partner of the initiative and Chairman of Daffodil Group.

Ariful Hasan Opu, Chief of Space Apps Bangladesh (SAB), BASIS Executive Council members and representatives from the Partner Organizations of the competition were present as well.

Primarily four teams will be selected countrywide who will be given lab, mentoring and an idea on the future commercial activities of the projects under the initiative. Besides, NASA will provide all information support regarding space and other research activities.

The activities are being commenced in Daffodil International University first by setting up modern lab. Gradually the activities will be stretched to other universities of Bangladesh.

The program was supported by Student Innovation Forum. Daffodil International University joined the program as Platinum Sponsor and, Devine IT Limited and Raise IT Solutions Limited as sponsors.
